REASI, SEPT 26: The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi Mukund Tibrewal, on Saturday took direct stock of policing and security gaps during a Thana Diwas programme at Arnas, where residents and civil society representatives placed a range of pressing local issues before the police leadership.
The interaction brought infrastructure and security concerns into sharp focus, with participants seeking police posts at Panassa, Thanole, Dhansal, Kouri and Dharmari, adequate ammunition for Village Defence Guards (VDGs), improvement of deteriorated roads, a youth gymnasium and sports activities under the Civic Action Programme.
Taking the issues head-on, SSP Reasi said genuine public-safety and policing concerns would not be allowed to linger.
He disclosed that infrastructure work for Police Station Panassa and Police Post Thanole is already underway, while land has been identified for police posts at Dhansal and Kouri.
The process for securing land for Police Post Dharmari is also being pursued with the competent authorities.
On the VDG issue, SSP Reasi issued directions to SHO Arnas to ensure adequate ammunition is provided to VDG members and that the matter is acted upon immediately.
The SSP also pushed for stronger youth engagement, announcing Volleyball and Kabaddi tournaments under the Civic Action Programme in Arnas and adjoining areas. The proposal for a gym centre at Arnas will also be examined.
The programme also carried a strong anti-drug message, with participants sensitised about the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Dial-112 emergency helpline.
SSP Reasi called for greater community vigilance and urged residents to immediately alert security agencies about suspicious movements or activities of anti-national elements.
The programme was attended by SDPO Arnas Updesh Kumar, SHO Arnas Inspector Sureshwar Dev Singh and representatives of civil society from Arnas and adjoining areas.
