JAMMU, SEPT 26: The 2nd Additional Sessions Court, Jammu, has rejected six bail applications filed on behalf of seven under-trial accused in a 2022 dacoity case, citing the ongoing examination of crucial prosecution witnesses and the possibility of interference with the evidence.
Presided over by Anoop Kumar Sharma, the court observed that the accused had failed to point to any substantial change in circumstances that would warrant reconsideration of their earlier bail pleas.
The court took particular note of the fact that key prosecution witnesses are presently being examined.
At this stage of the trial, it found a reasonable apprehension that releasing the accused could result in witnesses being influenced or prosecution evidence being tampered with.
The seven accused are facing trial in FIR Number 310/2022, registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, under Sections 395, 342, 120-B and 171 of the IPC, along with Sections 3/25 of the Arms Act.
After examining the case circumstances and the present stage of proceedings, the court found no sufficient grounds for granting bail and dismissed all six applications.
The order allows the trial to continue, with the prosecution evidence and examination of witnesses proceeding in accordance with law.
