JAMMU, OCT 7: Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu Range, Shridhar Patil, chaired a comprehensive crime review meeting at the Conference Hall, ZPHQ Jammu, focusing on investigations into sensitive cases with security implications and directing officers to intensify efforts against networks providing financial, logistical and other forms of support to terrorism.

The meeting reviewed the progress of UAPA cases in District Jammu, reopened old terror-related cases, narco-terror investigations and terror-financing cases, with the DIG taking stock of the status of investigations, pending leads and follow-up action required in each case.

Patil directed investigating and supervisory officers to ensure that all sensitive cases are handled through professional, evidence-based and time-bound investigation. He stressed the importance of meticulous evidence collection, verification of leads and sustained follow-up so that investigations are taken to their logical conclusion and remain legally sustainable.

While reviewing reopened cases, the DIG called for a fresh examination of available evidence and records and directed officers to pursue new leads that may have emerged over time. He emphasised that every relevant investigative angle must be examined to establish the complete chain of events and identify the roles of all persons connected with the cases.

The meeting also examined cases relating to narco-terrorism and terror financing, with emphasis on tracing the wider networks operating behind individual incidents. Officers were directed to investigate financial, logistical and other linkages and strengthen coordination among concerned units to identify the broader support structure.

Patil directed officers to adopt a network-oriented approach rather than limiting investigations to individual accused persons, stressing the need to identify those facilitating funds, logistics, communication or other forms of assistance to terrorist activities.

The DIG further called for strengthened coordination and continuous supervision of sensitive investigations, directing senior officers to monitor progress regularly, address investigative gaps promptly and ensure accountability at every stage.

The review assumes significance in the context of sustained efforts to disrupt the ecosystem supporting terrorism, particularly through investigations into financing channels, narcotics-linked networks and dormant or previously unresolved cases.

Patil reiterated that professional investigation, timely action, inter-unit coordination and evidence-based prosecution would remain central to Jammu Police’s approach towards sensitive security-related cases.
