LEH, OCT 7: In an initiative aimed at strengthening the psychological well-being and resilience of its personnel, Leh Police organised a Mental Fitness Programme at the Multipurpose Hall of District Police Lines (DPL) Leh, bringing together 50 police personnel and staff for sessions on mental health, counselling and psychological preparedness.
The programme was conducted by Nittan Sharma and Disha Nair, Research Officers, Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Leh Unit, who interacted with participating personnel and addressed key psychological challenges associated with the demanding nature of policing.
The sessions covered a range of areas including psycho-education, psychological screening, counselling and cyber psychology, providing personnel with awareness about recognising psychological stressors, maintaining mental well-being and seeking appropriate support when required.
The initiative focused on strengthening psychological resilience among police personnel, particularly in view of the prolonged operational, professional and personal pressures associated with police duties. The programme also provided a platform for personnel to openly discuss concerns and seek professional guidance.During the concluding interactive session, participating personnel engaged with the RRU experts, raised issues related to mental well-being and sought guidance on managing psychological challenges effectively.
Necessary arrangements for the programme were made by DySP DAR, DPL Leh, along with DPL staff, under the guidance and supervision of SSP Leh Piyush Nirakar Fulzele, IPS.
The programme reflects the importance of incorporating mental wellness, psychological awareness and professional counselling into police welfare initiatives, while creating a supportive environment where personnel can address stress and strengthen their capacity to perform demanding duties effectively.
