SAMBA, OCT 7: In a bid to strengthen community engagement and promote sports among youth in border areas, Samba Police organised a Kabaddi tournament under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026-27 at Abtal village in Ramgarh, drawing participation from eight teams and a large gathering of local spectators.
The tournament provided a platform for young players from across the district to showcase their sporting talent, discipline and competitive spirit, while reinforcing the role of sports in encouraging positive engagement among youth in border communities.
The final was contested between Arvind Ghosh Higher Secondary School (A), Vijaypur and Team Samba, with Team Samba emerging victorious after an exciting and closely contested encounter.
Samba Police felicitated the winning and runner-up teams with trophies and medals, recognising their performance, dedication and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. The umpires were also honoured with mementos in appreciation of their contribution and impartial conduct, which helped ensure the smooth and fair completion of the competition.
Refreshments were subsequently served to participants and guests.
The event was attended by Additional SP Samba, SDPO Vijaypur, SHO Police Station Ramgarh and other police officers and officials, who interacted with the participating players and encouraged them to pursue sports and other constructive activities.
The initiative under the Civic Action Programme reflects the efforts of Samba Police to use sports as a means of youth engagement, community outreach and confidence-building, particularly in border areas, while creating opportunities for young people to develop teamwork, discipline and leadership skills.
