STONGSAR, OCT 7: The Union Territory of Ladakh marked a significant strengthening of its trained security and public-safety manpower with the Valedictory-cum-Passing Out Parade of 114 newly inducted Special Police Officers (SPOs) and 99 personnel who completed pre-promotion courses at the Police Training School (PTS), Stongsar. The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
The passing-out ceremony marked the culmination of structured training for the newly inducted SPOs and professional upskilling of personnel undergoing pre-promotion courses, reinforcing the focus on discipline, operational preparedness and career development within the security establishment.
A major infrastructure component was also added to the occasion, with the Lieutenant Governor e-inaugurating four new residential blocks comprising 24 family quarters. The facilities are expected to strengthen residential support for personnel and contribute to improved welfare infrastructure at the training institution.
The ceremony also featured a series of initiatives aimed at giving Ladakh Fire & Rescue Services a stronger institutional framework and public-facing identity. The Fire Safety Handbook, official emblem, formation sign, flag and uniform badges were unveiled, while the department’s official website was also e-inaugurated.
The new fire-safety handbook is intended to provide a structured reference for safety practices, while the formal unveiling of the emblem, formation sign, flag and uniform badges establishes a distinct institutional identity for the Fire & Rescue Services. The launch of the website is expected to strengthen digital outreach and facilitate wider access to fire-safety information and departmental services.
The event therefore combined human-resource development, personnel welfare, institutional strengthening and modernisation of emergency-response services, reflecting a broader effort to enhance the capacity of Ladakh’s security and public-safety architecture. response across the region.
