Sopore, Oct 7: The three-day 1st North Kashmir Women’s Sports Festival concluded on Wednesday at Government Degree College for Women, Sopore, with participation of over 900 athletes from 14 degree colleges and five Higher Secondary Schools across North Kashmir.
The festival, sponsored by Lazzat Spices, Sopore, was inaugurated on October 5 by Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education Ram Nivas Sharma in the presence of Secretary Higher Education Shafqat Iqbal and SSP Sopore Iftikhar Talib.
The valedictory function was presided over by MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar. Principal Prof. Subeena Chilloo highlighted the importance of sports in empowering young women and promoting physical and mental well-being, while Dr. Tanveer Ahmad Bhat presented the festival report.
Finals in Kabaddi, Badminton and Table Tennis were held on the concluding day, witnessing enthusiastic participation and competitive spirit. Trophies and certificates were presented to winners, runners-up, athletes, officials and organizing committee members.
The event was attended by principals and representatives of various colleges from North Kashmir. The organisers expressed gratitude to the Higher Education Department, Lazzat Spices and all participating institutions for their support in making the festival a success.
