20 JKAP IR holds ‘Iron Man Fitness Challenge’ to engage youth through sports, discipline

SRINAGAR, OCT 7: Reinforcing its community outreach and youth engagement efforts, 20 JKAP IR organised an “Iron Man Fitness Challenge” in Zone Singhpora, bringing together students and youth from different schools and adjoining villages for a day focused on fitness, sportsmanship, discipline and constructive engagement.

The initiative featured a Volleyball Tournament, Tug-of-War and Running Competition, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students as well as the local civil population. The programme provided young participants with an opportunity to showcase physical endurance, teamwork and competitive spirit while promoting the importance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.

The event also carried a strong educational and motivational component. Winners and participants were felicitated with trophies, sports kits and participation certificates, while refreshments were provided to the participants. General Knowledge books were distributed among students to encourage learning beyond the classroom, and sports kits were provided to participating schools to support regular sporting activities.

Addressing the students, Commandant 20 JKAP IR Surjeet Kumar urged them to maintain a balance between academic excellence and physical development. He encouraged the youth to work hard, pursue their educational goals and channelise their energy into constructive activities, particularly sports and education.

The Commandant further called upon the students to remain disciplined and responsible and to stay away from negative influences that could adversely affect their future. He emphasised that sporting activities not only improve physical fitness but also instil qualities such as teamwork, perseverance, discipline and leadership among young people.

The programme also highlighted the values associated with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, particularly unity, national integration and commitment to the nation. Students were encouraged to imbibe these values in their everyday lives and contribute positively to society.

The initiative underlined the role of security forces in strengthening community connect through sustained engagement with youth, particularly by creating opportunities that combine sports, education, discipline and civic responsibility. Such programmes provide a constructive platform for young people while fostering greater interaction and trust between the security establishment and local communities.
