REASI, OCT 22: Intensifying its preventive security measures, District Police Reasi inspected 62 shops dealing in fertilisers, chemicals and other regulated materials across the district, scrutinising stock details, sale registers and relevant records to ensure regulatory compliance and prevent the potential misuse or diversion of sensitive materials. As part of the security drive, shopkeepers were directed to maintain proper documentation, adhere strictly to prescribed regulations and install CCTV cameras at their business premises to strengthen surveillance and facilitate effective monitoring of activities.
The inspection drive forms part of a broader preventive policing strategy aimed at identifying security vulnerabilities, ensuring accountability among dealers handling regulated materials and addressing potential threats before they escalate. During the inspections, police personnel examined the records maintained by shopkeepers and reviewed stock-related documentation to ascertain compliance with applicable rules. The directions regarding CCTV installation were intended to improve surveillance, strengthen the monitoring of commercial establishments and assist authorities in verifying activities whenever required.
Expanding the scope of its enforcement measures, District Police Reasi is also conducting inspections of medical shops to check the unauthorised sale of prohibited drugs and medicines without valid prescriptions. Simultaneously, SIM card vendors and online service providers are being brought under the inspection framework to verify compliance with applicable regulations and ensure that prescribed procedures are followed.
The coordinated inspections reflect the district police’s emphasis on preventive security, regulatory enforcement and vigilance across commercial establishments and service providers. By checking documentation, monitoring regulated transactions and encouraging the installation of surveillance systems, the initiative seeks to strengthen safeguards against possible violations and ensure greater compliance with established norms.
District Police Reasi has urged shopkeepers, dealers, medical establishments, SIM vendors and online service providers to maintain accurate records, follow all prescribed guidelines and extend full cooperation to police personnel and other regulatory authorities during inspections. Establishments have also been advised to treat compliance requirements seriously and ensure that their business activities remain within the framework of applicable laws and regulations.
Reiterating its commitment to public safety, District Police Reasi stated that regular inspections, proactive policing and strict enforcement of regulatory provisions would remain important components of its efforts to maintain a secure environment across the district for residents and visitors.
