POONCH, SEPT 17: Additional SP Poonch Dr. Ajay Sharma has directed police officers to intensify naka checking, strengthen surveillance along vulnerable routes and maintain adequate police presence in Bhatadurian and adjoining areas to further tighten the security and intelligence grid.
The directions were issued during a Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meeting held at Bhatadurian in the presence of SDPO Mendhar Touseef Ahmed, SHO Gursai Inspector Manpreet Singh and Incharge Police Post Kalar ASI Abdul Hamid.
The meeting focused on strengthening police-public coordination, intelligence sharing and community-based security, particularly in view of past security incidents in Bhatadurian and adjoining areas.
Dr. Sharma urged residents, Village Defence Guards and community representatives to immediately share credible information regarding suspicious persons, movements, unknown individuals, unusual activities or attempts to provide shelter or logistical support.
Directions were also issued to ensure adequate police deployment during school opening and closing hours and take action against traffic violations as per law.
The emerging challenge of narco-terrorism and drug trafficking was also discussed, with residents asked to remain alert along vulnerable and link roads and report suspicious drug-related activities.
Parents and community representatives were urged to remain attentive towards drug abuse among youth and educate children about its harmful effects.
Police also sensitised the public about cyber and financial frauds, advising them not to share OTPs, PINs, passwords or banking credentials with anyone and to report financial fraud immediately through 1930 and to the Police.
Various public issues concerning roads, NH construction, BRO works, land acquisition, compensation and damaged passages were also taken up during the interaction.
Concerns related to VDG training, strength and replacement/upgradation of weapons were recorded for taking up with the concerned higher authorities as per applicable policy.
Dr. Sharma said the PCPG mechanism would continue to be utilised to strengthen police-public partnership, timely intelligence sharing and collective efforts towards maintaining peace, security and public safety in the area.
