JAMMU, SEPT 26: Senior BJP leader Ashok Koul has relinquished his organisational responsibility and decided to return to his parent organisation, J&K BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur clarified, putting an end to speculation over his organisational status.
Thakur said a misleading narrative was being circulated on social media claiming that Koul had “resigned” or had been “removed” or “stepped down” from the organisation. He clarified that Koul’s decision was voluntary and was taken keeping in view his age and personal circumstances.
The spokesperson stressed that Koul’s relinquishment of organisational responsibility should not be construed as his removal or resignation. He said Koul has decided to return to his parent organisation after giving up the organisational responsibility.
Thakur strongly urged media houses and journalists to verify information before publishing or circulating it, particularly when reports are based on unverified social media claims.
He said any clarification concerning the J&K BJP organisation should be obtained directly from the authorised party office or concerned party representatives, rather than relying on social media narratives.
The BJP clarification seeks to establish the exact nature of the development and distinguish Koul’s voluntary decision to relinquish his organisational responsibility from claims that he was removed or had resigned.
