Srinagar, Sep 30: Leader of Opposition (LOP) Sunil Sharma on Wednesday termed the seven-day autumn session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly as “most unfortunate” and “historic for the wrong reasons”.
Addressing media persons on the last day of the J&K Legislative Assembly’s autumn session, LOP Sharma said every section, including daily wagers, NHM, contractual employees, NYC, ASHA, anganwadi, and people, had expectations that the government would answer their issues, but not a single issue was answered.
“We collected issues from every district and raised them, but the NC Government remained silent,” he said.
The LOP said the CM was calling it a fruitful session.
“Fruitful from which angle? You dashed the hopes of all sections. People were waiting for your Statehood resolution, which you chant as an answer to every question. BJP is committed to Statehood as per its agenda, but you sabotage the Statehood of common people by linking it with Pre-1953 position and Article 370,” he said. “After abrogation of 370, all confusion is over and the full Constitution of India is implemented in J&K. By raking up Pre-53 again, you have prolonged and sabotaged Statehood.”
Sharma reminded that when late Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah demanded a separate constitution and separate flag, then PM late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru jailed him for 22 years.
He questioned Congress leadership, from Rahul Gandhi to Mallikarjun Kharge saying, “What is your stand on this resolution seeking statehood with pre-53 position and Article 370? Do you want to divide India again and bring separatism back? By supporting this unconstitutional resolution, Congress has unmasked itself and should be ashamed. The nation is asking how can they support this.”
The LOP also questioned the Speaker under which rule he allowed such an unconstitutional resolution in the Assembly, which was declared illegal by the Law Department, and further demanded that the Speaker should step down on moral grounds for allowing such bills in the Assembly.
He said the people of J&K were deeply hurt by this shameful act.
Sharma said BJP had prepared a dossier, which they would submit to the government through the Assembly, exposing each promise.
“Even today, 13,000 posts are vacant and the NC government is unable to utilise PSC and SSRB efficiently,” he said.
