BANIHAL, OCT 15: Intensifying its crackdown on absconders and individuals evading the judicial process, Banihal Police has apprehended an accused from Punjab who had been evading arrest since 2024 in connection with a narcotics case.
The accused has been identified as Sat Paul Singh, son of Balkar Singh, a resident of Dhilwan, District Kapurthala, Punjab. He was wanted in FIR Number 45/2020 under Sections 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, registered at Police Station Banihal.
Acting on efforts to trace the accused and execute the pending court warrant, a police team from Police Station Banihal, led by ASI Ravinder Kumar Sharma, tracked him down and apprehended him in Kapurthala, Punjab.
A warrant under Section 335 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), corresponding to Section 512 of the erstwhile Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), had been issued against the accused by the Court of the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Ramban.
Following his apprehension, the accused was produced before the competent court. In compliance with the court’s directions, he was subsequently lodged in District Jail, Udhampur.
The arrest highlights Banihal Police’s continued efforts to pursue pending narcotics cases, execute judicial warrants and track down accused persons who evade the legal process. By tracing the accused beyond the Union Territory, the police team ensured that his prolonged evasion did not prevent further legal proceedings in the case.
Ramban Police reiterated their commitment to bringing absconders to justice, strengthening enforcement against narcotics-related offences and ensuring the effective execution of warrants issued by the courts.
