BARAMULLA, SEPT 10: Baramulla Police has intensified its crackdown on illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals, seizing four vehicles and two motors during separate operations against unlawful mining activities across the district.

During intensified patrolling and checking, Police intercepted two dumpers loaded with stones in the Tawheed Gunj area of Baramulla. The vehicles, bearing registration numbers JK05L-4504 and JK05K-4165, were found transporting mineral material without the requisite permission and documents and were seized.

In a separate operation, Baramulla Police conducted a raid at Jahama Ghat, where one tractor allegedly involved in illegal transportation of sand and two motors used for illegal sand extraction were seized.

Police have initiated necessary legal proceedings under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, while further action is being taken in accordance with law.

Police have directed field formations to maintain strict surveillance and intensify checking to curb illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals and prevent damage to natural resources.

Baramulla Police reiterated its commitment to enforcing mining regulations and protecting natural resources, urging people to promptly report instances of illegal mining and mineral transportation to Police and the concerned departments.
