BARAMULLA, SEPT 16: Police in Baramulla on Wednesday commenced a five-day training course on the new criminal laws at District Police Lines Baramulla, aimed at strengthening the legal knowledge, investigative skills and professional capabilities of police personnel.
The training focuses on key provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), besides related procedural requirements.
The course is designed to familiarise participating officers and personnel with the revised criminal law framework and its practical application in investigations and other police proceedings.
During the sessions, participants are being sensitised to updated legal provisions, investigation procedures, scientific methods of investigation, evidence handling and proper documentation.
Special emphasis is being laid on identifying common shortcomings in investigations and ensuring strict adherence to prescribed legal procedures.
Resource persons from relevant legal and judicial institutions are participating in the training and providing practical insights to Investigating Officers and other personnel on handling cases under the new criminal laws.
The course also focuses on preparing legally sound case files, improving investigative efficiency and maintaining procedural accuracy to ensure effective delivery of justice.
J&K Police said regular capacity-building and specialised training are essential to keep personnel abreast of changes in the criminal justice framework and further strengthen the quality of policing and investigation.
