BARAMULLA, OCT 1: In a push to promote environmental conservation and community participation, J&K Police Baramulla, in collaboration with the Forest Department, conducted a plantation drive under the theme “One School, One Tree”, engaging students and school staff across 10 educational institutions.

The initiative was organised within the jurisdiction of Police Station Bijhama, with plantation activities carried out at schools including Government Higher Secondary School Bijhama, Government High School Lachipora, New Bloom High School Jabadara and Noor-ul-High School Noorkah, among others.

Students and teachers actively participated in planting saplings and were sensitised about the critical role of trees and forests in maintaining ecological balance, conserving biodiversity and mitigating the challenges posed by climate change.

The students were also encouraged to take ownership of the saplings planted on their respective school premises and ensure their protection, regular care and healthy growth, turning the plantation exercise into a sustained environmental responsibility rather than a one-day activity.

The enthusiastic participation of students and school staff highlighted the importance of involving educational institutions and young people in environmental protection initiatives.

J&K Police said it remains committed to supporting environmental conservation, sustainability and community-oriented programmes, while encouraging greater public participation in initiatives aimed at creating a cleaner and greener future.
