NEW DELHI, SEPT 18: Director General Border Security Force (BSF) Praveen Kumar, on Friday extended heartfelt greetings to members of the BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA) and the entire Prahari Pariwar on the occasion of BWWA Day 2026, highlighting the association’s significant contribution towards the welfare, empowerment and wellbeing of BSF families.
BWWA has emerged as an important pillar of support for the Prahari Pariwar, working to strengthen the families of BSF personnel through a range of welfare and empowerment initiatives.
Its programmes include support for children’s education, care for children of working women personnel, vocational training and initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing of BSF personnel’s wives.
The association has also continued to extend care and support to the widows and wards of BSF personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Through these efforts, BWWA has remained closely connected with families that continue to carry the legacy of the Force’s fallen personnel.
A significant welfare initiative introduced this year further underlines the BSF’s commitment to such families.
A special provision has been incorporated in the Posting and Transfer Policy to provide consideration in posting and transfer matters for the Next of Kin (NoK) of “Amar Prahari” personnel.
The provision applies to the NoKs of BSF personnel who have been issued an Operational Casualty Certificate and subsequently appointed in the Force on compassionate grounds.
The measure seeks to recognise their unique circumstances and provide continued institutional support to families linked to the Force through the ultimate sacrifice of their loved ones.
The initiative reflects the BSF’s broader approach towards welfare, ensuring that support to its personnel extends beyond operational duties and encompasses the families who remain an integral part of the Prahari Pariwar.
On BWWA Day, the DG BSF reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to recognising the contribution of families behind every Prahari and ensuring that the sacrifices of its personnel and the support extended by their families remain an enduring part of the BSF’s welfare ethos.
