LEH, SEPT 18: Director General of Police, UT Ladakh, Anand Jain, IPS, on Friday issued PSARA licences to three private security agencies to operate across the Union Territory, marking the first-ever issuance of Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act licences in Ladakh.
The licences were issued by the DGP in his capacity as the Controlling Authority under the Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act, 2005 (PSARA) and the Ladakh Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Rules, 2021.
The issuance followed completion of all requisite legal and codal formalities prescribed under the PSARA Act and the Ladakh PSARA Rules.
The move formally brings the licensed private security agencies within the regulatory framework governing private security services in the Union Territory.
The Ladakh Police said the licensing of the three agencies is expected to benefit members of the public as well as private agencies, enterprises and other establishments requiring professional security services.
The initiative is also expected to create additional employment opportunities in the private security sector in Ladakh.
On the occasion, DGP Anand Jain advised the newly licensed agencies to discharge their responsibilities with professionalism, discipline and sincerity while providing security services to various institutions, organisations and establishments across Ladakh.
He further directed the agencies to strictly comply with all applicable provisions, rules, regulations and standards prescribed under the PSARA Act, 2005 and the Ladakh PSARA Rules, 2021.
The first issuance of PSARA licences marks an important step towards establishing a regulated private security sector in the Union Territory and strengthening the framework for delivery of private security services in Ladakh.
