JAMMU, SEPT 12: Director General of Police, J&K, Nalin Prabhat, chaired a comprehensive security review meeting at District Police Lines (DPL), Jammu, directing field formations to further strengthen the security grid, enhance operational preparedness and adopt a proactive approach to emerging security and law-and-order challenges.
The meeting was attended by IG Jammu Zone Tejinder Singh, DIG JSK Range Shridhar Patil, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, besides all Zonal SPs, SDPOs, SHOs and PSIs of the 2024 batch.
During the detailed review, the DGP took stock of the security arrangements across urban and rural areas of Jammu, the prevailing crime situation, operational preparedness of field formations and the effectiveness of the existing security grid.
The DGP directed officers to maintain round-the-clock alertness and close surveillance across vulnerable areas, strengthen the existing security grid and ensure that field formations remain fully prepared to respond swiftly to any emerging threat or law-and-order situation.
Emphasising the importance of proactive policing, Nalin Prabhat directed officers to focus on preventive measures, timely sharing of intelligence and effective coordination among different police formations. He stressed that field officers must remain closely connected with developments within their respective jurisdictions and take timely action to prevent incidents rather than merely responding after an occurrence.
The DGP also called for strong coordination between supervisory officers, police stations and field units, directing officers to ensure seamless communication and quick mobilisation of resources whenever required. He stressed the need for regular review of deployment arrangements and strengthening security measures in areas identified as vulnerable or sensitive.
On the crime front, the DGP reviewed the prevailing situation and directed officers to maintain a focused approach towards crime prevention, detection and investigation. Officers were asked to closely monitor criminal elements, strengthen beat policing and ensure effective follow-up in cases so that offenders are brought to justice within the ambit of law.
The PSIs of the 2024 batch were also part of the review, providing an opportunity to reinforce professional standards and acquaint young officers with the operational priorities and responsibilities expected from them at the field level.
The DGP emphasised that professionalism, discipline, accountability and responsiveness must remain the core principles of policing. He directed supervisory officers to regularly monitor the performance of their formations and ensure that directions issued at the senior level are translated into effective action on the ground.
The meeting also underscored the importance of maintaining public confidence and police-public coordination, with officers directed to remain accessible to citizens and address legitimate public concerns promptly while maintaining firm action against elements involved in criminal and anti-social activities.
Nalin Prabhat called upon all ranks to remain vigilant, disciplined and operationally prepared, particularly in view of the evolving security environment, and directed field formations to ensure a robust and responsive security mechanism across Jammu.
Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining a strong and effective security grid, preventing crime, strengthening public safety and ensuring the security of the people through proactive, professional and coordinated policing.
