HANDWARA, SEPT 18: Police arrested a suspected drug peddler during a naka checking operation in Handwara and recovered banned pharmaceutical drugs from his possession, officials said.
A police party conducting naka checking at Bye-Pass Handwara near Bus Stand Crossing apprehended Aslam Rafiq Sheikh, son of Mohammad Rafiq Sheikh, a resident of Khunbal, Handwara. During the search, police recovered banned drugs, including Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus and Tapentadol, from his possession.
In connection with the recovery, FIR Number 238/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara, and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and intended distribution of the recovered substances.
Police said the action was part of its sustained campaign against drug trafficking and reiterated its zero-tolerance approach towards the illegal trade in narcotic and psychotropic substances.
