Baramulla, Oct 6: Delhi Public School (DPS) Baramulla’s annual event “EHSAAS—Rang-o-Noor Ki Inayat: DPS Ki Riwayat” turned into a vibrant showcase of student talent, confidence and social awareness, leaving parents and guests visibly impressed.
The event witnessed a series of performances by students that drew thunderous applause from the audience, with parents repeatedly rising from their seats to capture glimpses of their children performing on stage.
The performances ranged from humorous acts to emotionally charged presentations, with several skits highlighting pressing social concerns, including poverty, acid attacks, drug addiction and excessive use of mobile phones.
The young performers not only entertained the audience but also used the stage to convey meaningful messages, keeping parents and guests glued to their seats throughout the programme.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Syed Fakhruddin, who was the chief guest at the occasion, praised the school for its discipline, organisation and overall development.
Recalling his interaction with the school management soon after taking charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla, Syed Fakhruddin Hamid said some issues had arisen earlier but were resolved by the school management “as a family” rather than treating them merely as an administrative matter.
“I am very impressed with this school,” he said, praising the discipline and professional organisation witnessed during the event.
He said the school, with around 2,000 students, was in “strong and capable hands” and expressed confidence about the future of its students.
Fakhruddin also lauded DPS Baramulla’s academic and extracurricular achievements, saying the school had demonstrated progress in examinations, NEET, sports and cultural activities.
“I understood that in extracurricular activities, DPS Baramulla is not only ahead in the UT, but also comparable with any school in the country,” he said.
He assured the school management and parents of the district administration’s support, saying the administration would extend whatever assistance was possible.
Chairman DPS Baramulla Sheikh Mohsin Iqbal, in his address, thanked parents for reposing their trust in the institution and said the faith placed in the school by parents was “sacred”.
Addressing the students, Iqbal said their performances had not merely entertained the audience but had inspired everyone present.
He said parents had expressed their appreciation for the event, adding that DPS Baramulla would continue striving to set new benchmarks in education, sports and other fields.
Principal DPS Baramulla Dr Shashwata Shiva, in his address, highlighted the institution’s academic achievements, saying the school secured 100 percent CBSE Board results in Classes 10 and 12 in 2026.
He said DPS Baramulla students also performed strongly in Olympiads, while around 70 percent of students from Nursery to Class 9 secured marks in the 90s in the 2025 annual examinations.
He added that three students qualified NEET this year, while five secured admission to top engineering colleges.
“More than a dozen Class 12 students also secured admission to institutions including Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Millia Islamia besides other management colleges across the country,” he added.
Shiva said education at the school was aimed not merely at academic achievement but at nurturing students who remained rooted in their heritage while being intellectually open and confident enough to engage with the wider world.
He said the Valley’s cultural heritage and natural landscape provided a unique opportunity to cultivate in students an appreciation for beauty, language, culture and the living world.
“Our academic endeavour rests upon clear conviction. Understanding must be secured, efforts must be sustained and achievements must be accompanied by intellectual integrity,” he added.
