Srinagar Police hosts Civic Action Programme to mark Sardar Patel’s 151st birth anniversary

SRINAGAR, OCT 6: District Police Srinagar organised a vibrant Civic Action Programme at J&K Police Public School, Bemina, to commemorate the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, bringing together students, police personnel and civil administration representatives around the themes of national unity, integrity, patriotism and responsible citizenship.

The programme, organised under the Civic Action Programme for the financial year 2026–27, featured a colourful cultural festival in which students showcased their talent through traditional folk performances, patriotic songs, skits and the “Sardar Patel & India Integrity Unity Song Competition.”

The student participation transformed the event into a platform for combining cultural expression with civic education. Performances highlighted the values of unity, discipline, integrity and service, while encouraging young participants to view nation-building as a shared responsibility.

The programme also sought to familiarise students and youth with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s leadership and his contribution to the integration and consolidation of India. Through cultural and creative activities, participants were encouraged to reflect on the importance of national cohesion and the responsibilities of citizens in strengthening society.

Students of J&K Police Public School, Bemina participated enthusiastically in the various activities, presenting performances centred on patriotism, national integration and civic responsibility. The event provided them with an opportunity to express these themes through music, theatre and traditional cultural forms.

Senior officers of District Police Srinagar, representatives of the Civil Administration, faculty members and students attended the programme.

The initiative also underlined the community-oriented dimension of policing, with Srinagar Police using civic engagement and youth-oriented activities to create greater interaction between police personnel and the younger generation.

Through such programmes, District Police Srinagar said it continues to focus on strengthening police-community relations, promoting civic responsibility and encouraging youth participation in activities centred on national integration and social values.
