EJM College Leh students head to Zanskar for three-day rural camp

LEH, SEPT 19: The Department of Social Work at Eliezer Joldan Memorial College (EJM College), Leh, has embarked on a three-day rural camp in Zanskar Valley from September 19 to 21, providing students with an opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to life and social realities in remote communities.

A total of 46 students from the 3rd and 5th Semesters, accompanied by two faculty members, are participating in the field-based programme.

The 5th Semester students will undertake research-oriented fieldwork and data collection, while the 3rd Semester students will apply Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) tools and participate in community-based learning activities.

The camp is aimed at strengthening students’ practical understanding of rural communities, local realities, community participation and professional Social Work practice through direct field engagement.

The team is being led by Dr. Yangchan Dolma, Head of the Department of Social Work, and Mr. Jaspreet Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, EJM College, Leh.
