SRINAGAR, OCT 4: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has filed two separate chargesheets against a man facing 15 criminal cases across the Kashmir Valley, alleging that he used impersonation, forged documents and false claims of official influence to defraud victims seeking government jobs and land.
The accused, Abdul Majeed Mir, son of Abdul Rahim Mir, resident of Kalaroos Lishtiyal, Kupwara, has been chargesheeted before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, in two cases investigated by the EOW.
The first case, FIR Number 13/2026, registered under Sections 318(4), 336(3), 340(2) and 238 BNS, relates to an alleged ₹2.10 lakh employment fraud. During investigation, the EOW allegedly found that Mir obtained the money by promising employment and produced an appointment order purportedly issued by the Airports Authority of India, which investigators found to be fake and forged.
The second case, FIR Number 10/2025, registered under Sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 201 IPC, allegedly reveals a larger deception network. According to the investigation, Mir posed as a Duty Officer attached to the Lieutenant Governor of J&K and allegedly exploited the false identity to convince victims that he could secure government jobs and land at SDA Colony, Bemina.
Investigators alleged that the accused collected approximately ₹60 lakh in the second case and issued fake appointment orders and land-allotment letters to support his claims. Taken together, the two cases involve allegations concerning approximately ₹62.10 lakh.
The filing of the chargesheets marks the completion of the EOW investigations, with the evidence and allegations now placed before the competent court for judicial scrutiny and determination.
The Crime Branch has also highlighted that Abdul Majeed Mir is involved in 15 separate criminal cases registered across Kashmir Valley, underlining the repeated nature of the allegations against him.
The EOW has urged citizens to verify claims of employment, land allotment and access to senior government authorities before making any payments. People who have been victims of economic fraud can approach SSP EOW Srinagar, Crime Branch J&K, or submit complaints through the official email sspeow-kmr@jkpolice.gov.in.
