The accident triggered a swift rescue operation, with Army, police and CRPF personnel, local residents and fellow BSF personnel joining efforts to evacuate the injured from the spot. They were subsequently shifted to District Hospital Ramban for treatment.
Hospital authorities said all five injured personnel were receiving medical care. Four were reported to be out of danger, while the truck driver, Shamim Ahmed, 38, of Karnah, Kashmir, sustained serious injuries and remained under treatment.
The injured have been identified as Sunil Kumar, 35, son of Ramesh Lal, resident of Jammu; Parshtum Kumar, 36, son of Paratem Chand, resident of Jammu; Chandan Yadhav, 38, son of Ravender Yadhav, resident of Bengal; Shamim Ahmed, 38, son of Abdul Qayoom, resident of Karnah; and Sub-Inspector Ghar Singh, son of Mela Ram, resident of Jammu.
Police have taken cognisance of the accident and initiated necessary proceedings.
The exact cause of the truck overturning was not immediately known, and further details are awaited.
