SRINAGAR, SEPT 19: The proposed “Tantra in Silence at Gurez” event, being promoted through social media, has not been authorised by the Tourism Department or the district administration, officials clarified on Saturday.
Assistant Director Tourism, Gulmarg, said his office had neither granted permission nor issued any authorisation for conducting the event. The office also clarified that no application seeking permission had been received or processed.
In an official communication, the Tourism Department stated that it had no information or official communication regarding the proposed event and had no association with its organisation or conduct.
The District Information Office, Bandipora, also issued a clarification, stating that no permission had been granted by the district administration for the event.
In a post on X, Information & PR, Bandipora, said the Gurez “Tantra Silence” retreat was unauthorised and advised the public and tourists not to rely on or share unauthorised promotional claims regarding the event.
The clarifications came after promotional material regarding the proposed event circulated on social media.
Earlier, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Kashmir’s chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had publicly raised concerns over the proposed event and called for action by the authorities.
