HANDWARA, SEPT 15: Tightening the screws on traffic violators and illegal mining, Handwara Police seized 13 motorcycles and five other vehicles during intensive checking across the police district, while four tractors carrying illegally mined material were also seized in a separate action.
The enforcement drive was conducted at multiple nakas established across Handwara, Langate, Kralgund, Vilgam, Magam, Chogul, Zachaldara and Qalamabad, where police teams stepped up checking to ensure compliance with traffic rules and promote road safety.
The action targeted vehicles found violating traffic regulations, with police stressing the need for disciplined driving and strict adherence to road-safety norms.
In a separate crackdown against illegal mining, police personnel at Police Station Vilgam intercepted and seized four tractors allegedly carrying illegally mined material.
The twin enforcement drives form part of intensified policing aimed at curbing traffic violations and preventing illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals.
Police said strict enforcement will continue across the district to deter violations, improve road discipline, protect public safety and prevent activities that damage public resources.
