The checking was conducted at Handwara, Kralgund, Vilgam, Chogul, Zachaldara and Qalamabad, where police intercepted vehicles found violating traffic regulations. Among the seized vehicles, three HMVs were found carrying illegally mined material.
Police said the action forms part of a sustained enforcement drive aimed at curbing traffic violations, preventing illegal transportation of minerals and ensuring disciplined driving on roads.
The intensified checking is also aimed at enhancing road safety and protecting the lives of road users across Police District Handwara.
