SRINAGAR, OCT 8: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar Singh, felicitated the Srinagar Police team for dismantling an organised inter-state narcotics trafficking network operating in Downtown Srinagar, recognising the sustained investigation that led to the arrest of eight accused and the recovery of narcotics, cash, gold and other assets worth crores of rupees.
The police action emerged from the investigation of FIR Number 135/2026 registered at Police Station Safakadal, during which investigators of Police Station M.R. Ganj reportedly unravelled the wider structure and linkages of the trafficking network. The probe brought to light inter-state connections and financial channels allegedly being used to facilitate the organised drug trade, expanding the case beyond individual-level peddling.
The felicitated team was led by SSP Srinagar Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, and included Zonal SP Showkat Ahmad, SDPO M.R. Ganj Junaid Wali, besides the SHOs and Investigating Officers of Police Station M.R. Ganj, whose investigative efforts played a key role in tracing the network.
During the felicitation, IGP Kashmir appreciated the officers for their professional investigation, sustained follow-up and coordinated action, and stressed the need for continued focus on organised crime syndicates and narcotics trafficking. The recovery of valuable assets and identification of financial channels also underline the enforcement approach of targeting the economic infrastructure supporting drug trafficking, alongside arrests of the accused.
J&K Police reiterated its commitment to dismantling organised drug-trafficking networks, tracing their inter-state linkages, disrupting illicit financial flows and pursuing stringent legal action against those involved in the narcotics trade.
