SAMBA, OCT 8: In a bid to promote sportsmanship, discipline and constructive engagement among youth, Samba Police organised a Kabaddi tournament at Vijaypur under its ongoing Civic Action Programme (CAP), drawing participation from six teams representing different parts of the district.
The sporting event witnessed an enthusiastic response from both players and the local community, with a large number of spectators gathering to cheer the participating teams. The tournament provided young athletes with a platform to showcase their talent while reinforcing the values of teamwork, discipline and healthy competition.
The final clash saw Arvind Ghosh Higher Secondary School, Vijaypur take on Government Higher Secondary School, Rahya in an exciting contest. Arvind Ghosh Higher Secondary School emerged victorious after defeating its opponent to lift the tournament title.
Samba Police felicitated the winner and runner-up teams with trophies and medals, recognising their performance, dedication and sporting spirit. The umpires were also honoured with mementos for ensuring fair and disciplined conduct throughout the tournament.
The event concluded with refreshments for participants and attendees. Additional SP Samba, SDPO Vijaypur, SHO Police Station Vijaypur and other police officers and officials were present, underscoring the police department’s continued engagement with the youth through community-oriented initiatives.
Through such activities under the Civic Action Programme, Samba Police is providing avenues for youth participation in sports and community engagement while strengthening interaction between the police and local residents.
