Srinagar, Oct 15: PDP spokesperson and Constituency Incharge Chanapora, Mohammad Iqbal Tramboo, has welcomed the Ease of Doing Business initiative, describing it as a positive step towards addressing the growing unemployment problem in Jammu and Kashmir and encouraging youth to pursue entrepreneurship and self-employment.
Tramboo, in a statement issued, said that young people aspiring to establish their own ventures often face lengthy official formalities, bureaucratic hurdles and unnecessary delays in obtaining clearances, which ultimately discourage them from pursuing their entrepreneurial ambitions.
He said the effective implementation of the initiative would help reduce red tapism, simplify procedures and facilitate the timely establishment of enterprises, enabling young people to become job creators rather than depend solely on government employment.
“Given the extent of unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir, simplifying business procedures is a welcome step. Our youth have the talent, ideas and determination to build their own enterprises, but unnecessary official formalities often exhaust them and discourage their efforts. The Ease of Doing Business initiative must translate into tangible relief for aspiring entrepreneurs on the ground,” Tramboo said.
However, he stressed that economic development must not come at the cost of the Union Territory’s fragile ecology. He called upon the government to ensure a proper balance between the Ease of Doing Business and the Ease of Living while framing the implementation guidelines.
“Jammu and Kashmir has a fragile ecological environment that demands careful consideration in every development policy. While facilitating investment and entrepreneurship, the government must ensure that environmental safeguards remain a priority. The objective should be to create an enabling business environment that generates employment, improves people’s lives and protects our natural heritage,” he added.
Tramboo said a transparent, simplified and environmentally responsible policy framework would encourage entrepreneurship, create sustainable livelihood opportunities and contribute to the long-term economic well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
