NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 20: The proposed UGC Rollback Savarna Mahapanchayat at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar was postponed on Sunday after Union Ministers J P Nadda and Jitendra Singh held talks with Kshatriya Karni Sena president Raj Shekhawat and representatives of the Savarna Mahapanchayat Committee.
The meeting followed the committee’s announcement of the September 20 gathering to raise concerns over the UGC Regulations, 2026, and reservation-related policies.
Nadda, in a post on X, said he and Jitendra Singh met Shekhawat and his delegation and discussed the issues raised by them in a cordial atmosphere. He said the Government would give due consideration to the demands and that another meeting with the delegation would be held within three weeks.
Following the meeting, Shekhawat and his delegation announced the postponement of the Mahapanchayat.
Shekhawat described the Centre’s decision to continue the dialogue as an “important achievement”, stating that several rounds of discussions had already been held with senior Union ministers and representatives of the Government.
He said the Centre had sought three weeks to undertake a detailed examination of the issues raised by the delegation, after which further discussions would take place.
The delegation comprised Shubhanshu Singh Rajput, national president of Samriddh Sanatan Sangh; R K Singh, IT cell president of the All India Kshatriya Mahasabha; advocate Sangeeta Singh, national president of the women’s wing of Kshatriya Karni Sena; and advocate Himanshu Sharma, legal adviser to the Savarna Mahapanchayat Committee.
With the fresh round of talks agreed upon, the September 20 Mahapanchayat has been postponed until further notice, while discussions on the committee’s demands are set to continue with the Government.
