KATHUA, OCT 5: Kartar Public School emerged victorious in a closely contested cricket tournament organised by Infant Jesus Higher Secondary School, Hiranagar, defeating the host school in a nail-biting final attended by SP Operations Kathua Brijesh Sharma, the Chief Education Officer Kathua and SHO Hiranagar.
The tournament brought together eight teams from schools in and around Hiranagar, providing young cricketers with a competitive platform to showcase their sporting talent, discipline and teamwork. The final witnessed an engaging contest between Kartar Public School and the host Infant Jesus Higher Secondary School, with Kartar Public School holding its nerve in the decisive stages to lift the title.
The presence of senior police and education officials at the concluding match underscored the importance of structured sports activities in promoting discipline, healthy competition, leadership and positive engagement among students.
The tournament also provided an opportunity for participating schools to encourage sporting talent beyond the classroom and strengthen interaction among students through healthy competition. The participation of eight teams reflected growing interest in organised sporting activities among schoolchildren in the area.
The successful conduct of the tournament highlighted the role of educational institutions in using sports as a means of nurturing confidence, teamwork and a constructive spirit among the younger generation.
