Kunzer Police bust gambling den at Hard Aboora, three held with cash, cards

BARAMULLA, OCT 5: In a targeted operation against gambling and other activities affecting the social environment, Kunzer Police has busted an alleged gambling activity at Hard Aboora and arrested three persons, recovering cash and playing cards from the spot.

The action followed credible information about gambling being conducted at Hard Aboora, prompting a police team from Police Station Kunzer to move into action and conduct a raid at the identified location. The operation resulted in the apprehension of three persons allegedly involved in the activity.

The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Younis Gojri, son of Abdul Rashid Gojri of Chichilora; Bashir Ahmad Lone, son of Habibullah Lone of Karhama; and Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Ahmad Sheikh of Karhama.

During the operation, the police team recovered and seized ₹4,970 in alleged gambling stake money and a set of playing cards from the spot. The seized material has been taken into possession as part of the legal proceedings.

Further investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident and ascertain whether any other persons were associated with the alleged gambling activity.

The action is part of the ongoing efforts of Kunzer Police to curb social crimes and prevent unlawful activities in areas falling under its jurisdiction. Police have maintained that sustained field-level intervention and timely response to credible inputs remain central to preserving public order and ensuring a secure environment for residents.

Police have also appealed to the public to remain alert and share credible information regarding gambling, drug abuse, illicit activities and other forms of unlawful conduct, assuring that information received from citizens will be dealt with appropriately under law.
