MATTAN, OCT 23: In a concerted effort to ensure that eligible families benefit from government housing assistance, the Municipal Committee Mattan has intensified field-level monitoring under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0), with the scheme’s In-charge conducting visits to various wards of Mattan town to assess construction progress and identify beneficiaries requiring further guidance.
During the field inspections, the In-charge PMAY reviewed the status of verified beneficiaries and found that some families had already commenced construction of their houses, while others were yet to initiate work for various reasons. The release of government funds to certain beneficiaries who have started construction marks an important step towards helping eligible families realise their dream of owning a secure home.
The field-level exercise underscores the Municipal Committee’s focus on monitoring implementation, facilitating beneficiaries and ensuring that the intended advantages of the housing scheme reach eligible households. PMAY-U 2.0 aims to support eligible urban families in meeting their housing needs and improving their living conditions.
Appealing to the residents of Mattan, the In-charge PMAY urged people to come forward and help identify needy families living without adequate shelter. Residents were encouraged to guide eligible households through the application process so that deserving families do not miss out on the benefits available under the scheme. Applications can be facilitated through Common Service Centres (CSCs), where applicants can seek assistance with the online process.
The In-charge also appealed to all verified beneficiaries to commence construction of their houses at the earliest and avoid unnecessary delays. Timely commencement and progress of construction are essential to ensure that the benefits of the scheme translate into tangible improvements in the living conditions of eligible families.
Emphasising the importance of public cooperation, the Municipal Committee Mattan has encouraged residents to share suggestions, seek clarification and approach the office of the In-charge PMAY for guidance and assistance regarding the scheme.
The initiative highlights the importance of coordination between the local administration, beneficiaries and the public in ensuring effective implementation of welfare programmes. Beyond providing financial assistance for housing, the scheme represents an opportunity for eligible families to move towards greater residential security, dignity and stability.
The broader objective is to ensure that no eligible family is left behind due to a lack of awareness or difficulties in accessing the application process, while encouraging verified beneficiaries to take timely steps towards completing their homes.
