NUBRA, SEPT 12: Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM), Aradhana Patnaik, visited District Hospital Nubra to review the functioning of the hospital and assess the healthcare facilities available to people in the remote district.
During the visit, Patnaik inspected various sections of the hospital, including wards and other patient-care facilities, and interacted with doctors and healthcare staff. She reviewed the existing infrastructure, manpower, medical equipment and key challenges affecting the delivery of quality healthcare services in the region.
The Chief Medical Officer and Block Medical Officer apprised the Mission Director of the requirement for specialist services, including Consultant Gynaecologist, Anaesthetist, Surgeon, Ophthalmologist and Radiologist, besides additional manpower and specialised healthcare facilities.
They also highlighted the need for further infrastructure upgradation following the elevation of Sub-District Hospital Nubra to District Hospital status. Key requirements include expansion of the labour room, ICU and isolation facilities, along with provision of essential medical and diagnostic equipment.
Taking note of the requirements, Patnaik stressed that the upgradation of the hospital must be backed by adequate infrastructure, manpower and specialist services to ensure comprehensive and quality healthcare delivery to the people of Nubra.
The visit provided an important platform to assess the district’s healthcare requirements at the ground level and underline the need for sustained support to strengthen medical infrastructure, specialist availability and patient-care services in the remote region.
