Nowgam Police cracks theft case, arrests two, recovers stolen property

BANDIPORA, OCT 3: Nowgam Police has arrested two accused persons and recovered stolen property.

The case was registered after a complaint was received on September 18, 2026, regarding the theft of various items. Accordingly, FIR Number 209/2026 was registered under Sections 305, 331(4) and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Post Nowgam.

During the investigation, police arrested Shabir Ahmed Wani, son of Ghulam Qadir Wani, resident of Sadunara. During questioning, he allegedly disclosed his involvement in the offence along with an accomplice and identified the location where the stolen property had been kept.

Acting on the disclosure, the investigating team recovered the stolen property from his residence, providing a significant breakthrough in the case.

Further investigation led police to identify and arrest the second accused, Mohammad Shafi Dar, son of Abdul Samad Dar, also a resident of Sadunara, for his alleged involvement in the offence.

Both accused have been arrested and further investigation is underway to establish the complete chain of events, ascertain whether the accused have any connection with other theft incidents and identify any additional persons who may be linked to the case.

The action reflects Nowgam Police’s continued focus on crime detection, recovery of stolen property and bringing offenders to justice through sustained investigation and evidence-based policing.
