MLA Lolab Qaysar Jamshaid Lone laid the foundation stones for the projects, which include the construction of the Dudi Chountiware–Chountiware Bala road at an estimated cost of Rs 7.27 crore, Dudi Chountiware–Lindub road at Rs 3.75 crore, Chountiware/Hardaring–Khan Basti road at Rs 5.09 crore, and Dudi/Chountiware–Shareen Karaie road at Rs 4.76 crore.

The projects are expected to strengthen road connectivity in Machil and improve access to essential services, markets and public facilities for residents of the border area.

Speaking on the occasion, Lone said better road connectivity was essential for the socio-economic development of remote areas. He said connecting every habitation in Lolab remained among his priorities and that the projects would address several long-pending demands of the people.

Residents welcomed the launch of the projects and expressed hope that the roads would be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
