NEW DELHI, SEPT 24: Jammu and Kashmir fencer Shreya Gupta delivered a commendable performance at the 2026 Asian Games, reaching the Round of 16 in the women’s individual sabre event and marking a proud moment for the Union Territory.
Representing India on the continental stage, Gupta progressed to the knockout round before her campaign ended against South Korea’s Jeon Ha-young, who secured a 15–6 victory.
Gupta finished as the 11th-ranked Indian fencer in the event and gained valuable experience competing at one of Asia’s biggest sporting platforms.
She is among the two sabre fencers from Jammu and Kashmir selected to represent India at the 2026 Asian Games. Her appearance at the Games highlights the growing presence of J&K athletes in international sport and provides further recognition to the region’s emerging fencing talent.
