JAMMU, OCT 2: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday held an introductory organisational meeting with newly appointed Seh-Prabhari Reena Kashyap, MLA from Pachhad Assembly constituency in Himachal Pradesh, at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, with the leadership focusing on strengthening the organisational network, grassroots outreach and coordination across the Union Territory.
The meeting, chaired by J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, brought together state office-bearers, Morcha presidents, spokespersons, District Prabharis, District Presidents and other senior functionaries. The interaction provided Kashyap an opportunity to engage with the wider organisational team and take stock of the party’s ongoing programmes and priorities in Jammu and Kashmir. The appointment of Reena Kashyap as Seh-Prabhari is part of the BJP’s recent organisational restructuring in J&K.
The meeting was addressed by BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, Rajya Sabha MP Er. Ghulam Ali Khatana, and General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria and Gopal Mahajan.
Addressing the gathering, Sat Sharma acknowledged the sustained efforts of the BJP cadre in Jammu and Kashmir and said party workers had continued organisational activities despite the region’s challenging socio-political environment. He called upon the cadre to further intensify organisational work and strengthen the party’s presence and coordination at every level.
Sharma also reviewed the ongoing programmes under the month-long Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, stressing the need for effective grassroots implementation and sustained engagement with people. The BJP has been holding organisational and outreach programmes under the campaign, with its leadership repeatedly emphasising grassroots contact and coordination.
Reena Kashyap, during her interaction with the state team, said organisational workers continuously learn through experience and remain prepared to undertake challenging responsibilities. She described the BJP cadre as lifelong learners who acquire new knowledge, skills and organisational experience while discharging their responsibilities.
Kashyap said the interaction had provided her an opportunity to understand the experiences and working of the J&K BJP organisation. She expressed confidence in the energy, dedication and commitment of the cadre and said the organisation would continue its efforts to strengthen its activities across Jammu and Kashmir.
Ashok Koul underlined the importance of ideological commitment and organisational discipline, saying party workers constitute the core strength of the organisation. He stressed that workers should maintain purity of purpose and adherence to core values while carrying out organisational responsibilities.
Koul further described organisational development as a continuous process, calling upon workers to constantly strengthen their values, capabilities and commitment to the larger objectives of the organisation.
Er. Ghulam Ali Khatana highlighted the sustained efforts and sacrifices of BJP workers in Jammu and Kashmir and referred to the development initiatives undertaken in the Union Territory under the Narendra Modi government. He said the region’s development would continue through the government’s stated vision and the organisational efforts of party workers.
The proceedings were conducted by General Secretary Gopal Mahajan, while General Secretary Sanjita Dogra presented the vote of thanks.
The meeting assumes significance against the backdrop of the BJP’s ongoing organisational restructuring in J&K. The party has recently appointed Satish Poonia as J&K Prabhari and Reena Kashyap as Seh-Prabhari, while a series of organisational meetings are being held to review grassroots functioning and future programmes.
