SAMBA, SEPT 19: In a major public assistance initiative, Samba Police has traced and recovered 50 missing mobile phones valued at approximately ₹8.65 lakh, returning them to their owners at a function held at District Police Headquarters, Samba.
The devices were recovered from different locations within and outside Jammu and Kashmir after police acted on complaints filed by citizens through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) Portal.
A systematic tracking exercise was undertaken to locate the missing phones, which were subsequently verified before being handed over to their respective owners.
The recovery brought relief to the recipients, who appreciated Samba Police for its efforts in tracing their lost devices.
SSP Samba urged the public to keep their mobile phones’ IMEI numbers safely recorded, noting their importance in identifying and tracking lost or missing devices.
Citizens were also advised to immediately register complaints through the CEIR Portal at ceir.gov.in after losing a mobile phone, enabling authorities to block, trace and facilitate recovery of the device.
