BUDGAM, OCT 1: The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) intensified its community-level efforts against substance abuse on Thursday by conducting a drug abuse awareness campaign at multiple locations across Budgam, with a special focus on engaging drivers and other members of the general public.
During the campaign, SDRF personnel distributed awareness pamphlets and posters explaining the harmful consequences of drug abuse and the wider social impact of addiction. The team also displayed awareness material at prominent public locations to ensure that the anti-drug message reached a larger audience.
Drivers were specifically engaged during the outreach, recognising their regular movement through different areas and their potential role in carrying preventive messages into communities. The campaign encouraged people to remain alert to the dangers of substance abuse and to support collective efforts aimed at preventing drug addiction.
The awareness material highlighted the physical, psychological and social consequences associated with drug abuse while promoting healthier lifestyles and responsible choices. The initiative also sought to reinforce the message that prevention requires sustained participation from families, communities and the wider public.
SDRF personnel urged citizens to work together to discourage substance abuse and contribute towards creating a healthier and drug-free society. The campaign placed emphasis on awareness and prevention alongside broader efforts being undertaken by various agencies to address the challenge of drug abuse.
Posters were installed at prominent locations as part of the sustained awareness effort, allowing the anti-drug message to remain visible to commuters and residents beyond the duration of the campaign.
The initiative reflects the expanding community outreach role of SDRF personnel, whose public-service activities extend beyond emergency response and rescue operations to include awareness programmes aimed at strengthening community resilience and social responsibility.
By taking the campaign directly to public spaces and engaging drivers and residents, SDRF Budgam sought to reinforce the message that combating drug abuse is not limited to enforcement agencies and requires active cooperation from society as a whole.
