SHOPIAN, SEPT 18: Continuing its crackdown on the financial networks supporting the illegal drug trade, J&K Police in Shopian have attached a residential house and frozen cash worth ₹4.73 lakh allegedly linked to proceeds generated through narcotics trafficking.
The attached residential house, constructed over land measuring 1,065 sq ft under Khasra/Survey No. 1327 at Melhura, has been valued at ₹16,56,385 and belongs to Farooq Ahmad Shah, adopted son of Ghulam Hassan Shah, resident of Melhura.
Police said ₹4,73,500 in cash was also frozen/seized during the proceedings. The property and cash were identified as assets allegedly acquired through proceeds of illegal drug and narcotics trade.
The action was taken under Section 68-F(1) of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR Number 58/2024 registered at Police Station Zainapora.
The attachment and freezing proceedings were conducted in the presence of a duly constituted police team, Executive Magistrate, Lambardar and Chowkidar to ensure adherence to prescribed legal procedures and transparency.
Police said its anti-narcotics campaign is focused not only on identifying and prosecuting persons involved in drug trafficking but also on tracing and targeting the financial assets and properties allegedly generated from the illicit trade.
Police has urged the public to share information regarding drug trafficking and related activities to help curb the narcotics menace.
