ANANTNAG, SEPT 18: A black bear was successfully rescued after falling into a water tank in the Bradiangan area of Uttersoo in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, following a coordinated operation by the Wildlife Department, Control Room Achabal and Uttersoo Police.
The incident came to light after locals noticed the bear trapped inside the water tank and informed the concerned authorities.
Acting promptly on the information, the Wildlife Department launched a rescue operation to safely extricate the animal and prevent any harm to the bear or residents in the vicinity.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of the Wildlife Warden South.
A team led by the Range Officer Bringhi Valley, along with personnel from the Wildlife Control Room Achabal, reached the spot and assessed the situation.
Personnel from Police Station Uttersoo also assisted the wildlife team in securing the area and facilitating the rescue operation.
After carefully assessing the condition of the trapped animal, wildlife personnel took necessary precautions and tranquilized the bear to ensure its safe removal from the confined space.
The animal was subsequently extricated from the water tank without reported injury.
Following the successful rescue, the bear was shifted away from the populated area and released into its natural habitat, officials said.
The coordinated and timely response by the Wildlife Department, supported by the Control Room Achabal and Uttersoo Police, ensured that the rescue operation was completed safely. No harm to the bear or local residents was reported.
The successful operation also brought relief to residents of Bradiangan, while ensuring the safe return of the wild animal to its natural surroundings.
