SHOPIAN, SEPT 11: Shopian Police has intensified its crackdown on traffic violations across the district, seizing 128 vehicles, mostly two-wheelers, and challaning hundreds of motorists for various violations under the Motor Vehicles Act.
The enforcement drive is being carried out at multiple locations to strengthen traffic discipline, curb reckless driving and prevent road accidents. Special naka points and mobile checking teams have been deployed at key locations to verify vehicle and driving documents and take immediate action against violators.
Police said the violations detected during the ongoing campaign included rash and negligent driving, driving without valid documents, triple riding, riding without helmets, failure to wear seat belts and other traffic offences.
The seizure of a large number of vehicles, particularly two-wheelers, comes amid intensified efforts to ensure compliance with basic road-safety norms and discourage dangerous driving practices.
Police urged motorists, especially young riders, to strictly follow traffic rules, wear helmets while riding two-wheelers, use seat belts, avoid over-speeding and refrain from rash or negligent driving. Vehicle owners were also advised to carry all mandatory vehicle and driving documents while on the road.
Shopian Police reiterated that traffic enforcement would continue across the district with the objective of reducing accidents, protecting commuters and pedestrians and making roads safer for all users.
Police also appealed to citizens to cooperate with enforcement teams and contribute towards creating a responsible, disciplined and road-safety-conscious traffic environment in Shopian.
