SRINAGAR, SEPT 22: SSP Srinagar Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy directed officers to tighten the security grid, accelerate investigation of pending cases and intensify action against drug trafficking during a comprehensive crime and security review meeting held at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Zonal SPs, SP Headquarters, DySP Headquarters, SDPOs, SHOs and other senior officers of Srinagar Police.
The SSP reviewed the crime situation across all zones, sub-divisions and police stations, with particular focus on cases registered under the UAPA and NDPS Acts, POCSO cases, crimes against women and other offences.
Officers were directed to improve the quality of investigations and prosecution, clear the pending backlog and ensure effective implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Issuing specific directions against the narcotics network, the SSP ordered officers to identify and dismantle drug hotspots and trace both forward and backward linkages in narcotics and terror-funding cases.
He also directed that financial investigations be initiated in appropriate cases to identify and freeze bank accounts and attach properties allegedly acquired through proceeds of crime, in accordance with law.
Reviewing the security arrangements, Dr. Chakravarthy directed field formations to maintain operational readiness, strengthen area domination and intensify naka checking at vulnerable points and inter-district entry and exit routes.
The SSP further ordered round-the-clock vigilance and close coordination among field units, stressing that security arrangements must remain responsive to emerging threats while ensuring public safety and maintenance of law and order across Srinagar.
