Two held with 4.73 gms heroin in Kana Chack, vehicle seized

JAMMU, SEPT 11: Intensifying its crackdown on drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan, Police apprehended two suspected drug peddlers and recovered approximately 4.73 grams of heroin-like substance from their possession in the Kana Chack area.

The action was carried out by a police team of Police Station Kanachak during a checking operation. The two accused were identified as Vishal Sharma, son of Somnath Sharma, and Sushil Sharma, son of Ashok Kumar Sharma, both residents of Jandial Thathi.

During their search, police recovered approximately 4.73 grams of a heroin-like substance, which was taken into possession for further investigation.

Police have registered FIR Number 162/2026 at Police Station Kanachak under Sections 8/21/22/25/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The vehicle bearing registration number JK02BT-0136, allegedly used in connection with the offence, has also been seized by the police.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the recovered substance, establish the accused persons’ alleged network and identify any other individuals who may be linked to the drug trade.

Jammu Police said the operation forms part of its sustained campaign against narcotics and reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking and abuse. The police stressed that continued enforcement and coordinated action would be pursued to curb the circulation of drugs and strengthen efforts to make society drug-free under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan.
