Two held with 6.65 gms heroin in Katra

KATRA, SEPT 30: Katra Police arrested two men and recovered 6.65 grams of heroin-like substance during a naka at Chungi Point, officials said.

The arrests were made, when a Police Station Katra team was conducting pedestrian and vehicle checks at Chungi Point.

The two men, who were walking from Balini towards Katra Bus Stand, were intercepted and searched.

Those arrested were identified as Vinay Kumar, son of Kunj Lal, a resident of Bhagtha, Katra, and Deepak Gupta, son of Surinder Gupta, a resident of Main Bazar, Katra.

A case FIR Number 310/2026 under Sections 8, 21, 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra.

Investigators are now probing the source and intended destination of the suspected narcotics, besides examining backward and forward linkages to determine whether others are connected to the alleged supply chain.

The recovery is part of Reasi Police’s ongoing anti-narcotics drive, with intensified checking and surveillance aimed at curbing the movement and distribution of drugs in the Katra area.
