ANANTNAG, SEPT 17: Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, Anantnag Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers during a naka and checking operation at Dugga Petrol Pump in Naibasti Khanabal and recovered 10.31 grams of cannabis from their possession.
A police party from Police Station Anantnag intercepted the two suspects during the checking operation and identified them as Adil Ahmad Shah, son of Bashir Ahmad Shah, resident of Naibasti and presently residing at BED College Donichak Anzalla, and Adil Ahmad Wani, son of Mohd Iqbal Wani, resident of Krangsoo, Mattan Mohalla Khandipora.
During their search, police recovered 10.31 grams of cannabis, following which both were taken into custody.
In connection with the recovery, FIR Number 314/2026 under Sections 8/20-29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Anantnag, and investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and intended destination of the recovered contraband.
Police said further investigation would examine possible links and networks involved in the illegal drug trade.
Anantnag Police reiterated that enforcement operations against narcotics trafficking would continue and that strict legal action would be taken against persons found involved in the possession, transportation or distribution of illegal drugs.
