NEW DELHI, OCT 25: A delegation of 10 young officers from the Vietnam People’s Army visited India under the Young Officers Exchange Programme, aimed at strengthening military ties, promoting professional interaction and deepening mutual understanding between the armed forces of the two countries.
During their week-long visit, the Vietnamese officers toured defence establishments and places of cultural significance in Pune, Ahilyanagar and Deolali. The programme provided opportunities for professional exchanges, exposure to India’s military institutions and cultural heritage, and interaction intended to foster camaraderie between the two armies.
The visit highlighted the growing importance of military-to-military engagement in advancing India-Vietnam defence cooperation. Such exchanges help young military leaders gain insights into each other’s professional practices, traditions and operational environments while building relationships that can support future collaboration.
India and Vietnam share longstanding friendly relations, with defence cooperation forming an important pillar of their broader strategic partnership. Engagements involving young officers contribute to sustaining these ties by encouraging dialogue, trust and people-to-people connections within the armed forces.
The exchange programme reaffirmed the enduring friendship between India and Vietnam and the commitment of both sides to further strengthen military cooperation through professional engagement and mutual understanding.
The initiative was highlighted by Indian defence and diplomatic establishments, including the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of External Affairs, Army Training Command, Southern Command of the Indian Army and the Embassy of India in Hanoi.
